The Pantheon Apocrypha

The History of The Pantheon

The Pantheon Apocrypha is a series of 52 books that tell the stories and history of the Gods of Caeteria. They were penned by a group known as the '29 Prophets' who would later go on to become the first High Priests of the Pantheon.   The books are in chronological order, with book one telling the story of the Potter creating the world, and book fifty two containing a number of more recent tales. Every book is bound in simple brown leather, with the number carved into the spine. The longest book is book seven, coming in at 1809 pages, while the shortest is book twenty, which has only 13 pages.

Historical Details

Background

The Pantheon Apocrypha are seen as the true unifying moment for religion in Caeteria. Indeed, their revelation to the world is now known and celebrated as Reformation Day, the day when the worship of The Pantheon become unified and whole.

History

Before the twenty nine prophets wrote the Pantheon Apocrypha, worship of The Pantheon was fractured and disparate, with many different opinions existing as to the meaning of the stories of the gods, and indeed of how the stories themselves were told. The Pantheon Apocrypha took all those tales, stories, and knowledge, and pooled it together into one single, unified source, allowing the religion to push on ahead and spread, rather than falling to infighting.

Legacy

These days, The Pantheon Apocrypha is viewed as one of the most holy relics of The Pantheon. It is stored in it's entirety in it's own shrine vault within the Reliquary of Serene Vialgo.
