Neighborhoods

Three major residential areas: Magani, Callasa, Miteno   The north side of the city, where the old city walls end at the base of the foothills, has the East Garden Villas. It used to be called the Magani Neighborhood, but the naming was modernized in the past century. The truly expensive homes and manors are located outside of the actual neighborhood in the foothills overlooking the city and the Leprita River.   The Belltop District is a middle class neighborhood and the largest in the city. It is the closest to the Lattari Spice Market in the center of the city. Homes closer to the market are more expensive while the south western portion is the cheapest. This neighborhood is mostly made up of merchants, guild members, and other craftsmen/artisans. The Globe Street Taverns in this area are famous for making up the most widely known bar crawl in the empire, known as Chasing The Whale.   Miteno Borough is more commonly known as the Crumbling Trellis. It has the cheapest housing for the lower class. The nickname is a common dig at the more expensive East Garden Villas on the other side of the city. This neighborhood is cramped at the western edge of the city, spreading along the city walls. The area is full of twisting alleys and dark corners, with the least amount of city planning. This is the oldest area of the city which draws tourists before the locals scare them away.

Public Figures

  King Galileo Viscuso
  • Aging human in his late 60s, dark skin with very short greying hair, sharp grey eyes and half-moon glasses, leathery skin with ink stained fingers
  • Has two sons, neither of whom ever really entered into politics and instead live in northern Rovia with their wives and children, very disconnected from from Vetrusian politics
  • Public opinion is divided between high support among older citizens/old money families and malcontent from younger citizens. His legacy position doesn’t hold as much weight with the upcoming generation and his lack of control over the gang/mob violence running rampant in Vetrios over the past few decades is often cited as evidence of his ineffective leadership.
  • Baron Romo le Faire is his main advisor for all of Rovia, but for the most part he leaves governing the city up to the Baron and the city council while he exerts the most direct influence over policies for the more rural areas of the country.
  Baron Romo le Faire
  • Sun elf, around 150 years old, tanned skin with black goatee, wears a signature long black coat and distinctive prominent diamond wedding ring
  • Newly elected to this office – became Baron 8 months ago
  • Practically an open secret among high ranking Vetrusian officials that his election made him a puppet for the larger New Money families to manipulate
  • Wife Ursula le Faire runs his private affairs while he is the public face for Vetrios
  • Le Faire family business involves several side businesses such as the Leviathan Casino, several bars and inns throughout the city including the Laughing Monkey among the Globe Street Taverns, recently involved in a personal side project of franchising the Little Whale Bistros that has been put on hold following a public family scandal
  Byron “Fireball” Montparnasse
  • Most influential half orc in Vetrios outside of the Baron and the King. Known to be a brass Draconic sorcerer, relatively shameless about his position as the head of the Grey Hand mob, strong connections to the le Faire family
  • Cafeld native, moved south with his wife Alysanne approximately twenty five years ago, known for aggressive personality and fondness for entertainment
  • Has been on the warpath in the city ever since the alleged death of his son Charleton at the hands of the elusive Butcher Souls, despite no proof of a body ever being found
  • Deliberately expanded his drug empire (assumed “Drake Eyes” supplier) to topple smaller players and amass a huge amount of influence in both the Vetrusian underworld and against the new money families on the city council, consolidating a lot of power into one main figure
Ursula le Faire
  • Half drow woman in her fifties, married to Baron Romo le Faire, daughter Umbra publicly denounced her a year ago and ran off to be a musician
  • Kick started the decline of the le Faire influence in favor of Byron Montparnasse in Vetrios underworld
  • Manages the Leviathan casino, rumored connections to Byron’s cartel drug movements that have never been confirmed
  • Used to be the most powerful player on the New Money scene before the embarrassment with her daughter and Byron’s power play – lots of enemies among old money Vetrusian families such as the Viscuso, Borsa, and Sicaris families.
