After nearly 1000 years of sleep, the Ayae gave birth to the great beasts of legend - dragons and krakens. These original creatures were beings of pure magic given physical form.

It's said the krakens pulled the land up from the bottom of the ocean, creating many of the continents and islands around Caerwyn. The dragons helped shape the new world - it's said their fires fueled volcanos and their wing beats created great storms that spread across the world. Not all was light in the time, however. The influence of the One Chained in the Dark, though lessened by his planar separation, could still be felt. It exerted it's influence on the more susceptible of the dragons, turning them evil. A great clash between the dragons occurred and many were killed. From their bodies sprang new life - trees and plants grew from the magic that seeped from them.
