Episode 1: Railroading

General Summary

With the gun deal between The Untamed and House de Niclaeys going south, everything errupted into chaos. Malak Dargash took mortal wounds, was abonded by Lyssor Hallyr, and found himself being healed in the hut of Ragnor Skysplitter, now with new runes inscribed in his wounds.

Dyra de Niclaeys, Isabella Beaumont, Deacon Glaas, and Sy took a job from the illustrous proffesor Ambrose Hood to collect the 'Book of Lies' from a train traveling to Corvis. He then asked them to meet him for their reward of 25 swan each (Coins of the Iron Kingoms) at Corvis University

Using some...creative tactics, the party was able to get themselves onto the drink cabin, where Deacon Glaas had drinks with the smooth talking Birk Shaw and Dyra de Niclaeys went to go get cleaned up, with an investigator in disguise - later revealed to be Darrion Coley. After swindingling a few coin and a House Redgrave badge off Tulu Ironbiter, Malak Dargash met up with Sy to discuss what has transpired since they last connected.

Moving the train, the party took to the storage car and discovered a large shipment of a black fungus, and upon investigating was attacked by a collective of invisible thralls. Dyra de Niclaeys lit the car aflame and watched as a mysterious Cryxian broke the connection between the train - leaving them to their own devices in the swamps.

From there, the party traveled along the train tracks toward Corvis. Along the way they discovered an explored a sunken ruin, in which a crazed Steamjacks protected an enchanted stone shortword of flame. Stealing the artificat and returning to the surface, Isabella Beaumont assured everyone that all would be fine.

Resting for the night, the party awoke to travel the rest of the way to Corvis, and headed to the industrial district-near Isabella Beaumont's apartment and got some food at Poor Lary's. While "enjoying" the low-quality food and drink, they opened the Book of Lies - and tried to understand it, before the protective magic that was holding it together decayed, leaving mostly ash and burnt pages from the flames on the train. Without noticing the change in the book, Dyra de Niclaeys received two animal messengers from Mara de Niclaeys showing contempt at the party for not immediately heading for her residence, and demanding the guns be delivered on the hour. As she spoke to the chirping messengers, everyone else turned to the sound of a lute as Lyssor Hallyr began a musical performance as the "love doctor".
