Blood-Money, Sex-Magic
Honest work is hard to come by. A crew can get you a job, and a gun can help you keep it.
Corvis, the City of Ghosts, rests in the central of the civilized world. A grim place that rains 10 months out of the year and rests upon ancient ruins of the Orgoth. The rivers running through it connect trade from Cygnar to Khador, Protectorate of Menoth, Ord, Llael, and Rhul. Since the claiming, the city has become a cespool of crime and villany, run by House Redgrave, a team of veterans who fought for Llael's independence from Khador.
Since the collapse of Nyss civilization up in the northern mountains, many refugees have fled to Corvis in hopes that their ancient cousins, the Iosan, will allow them to return to the homeland of the elves - so far they have had no such luck. Many have taken to crime, brothel work, and drug use; to make matters worse, rumors speek of more and more going missing. At least they have Feen Asyr to guide them. Though Alcyr Hakkyth and his gang, The Untamed, have set their eyes on expansion and want a piece of the pie.
Our story begins with House de Niclaeys, once a grand aristocratic family from Llael that have fallen on hard times. Turning to crime they have forged an unpalatable alliance with a Nyss gang out of Korsk, The Untamed. Sending the family prodigy Mara de Niclaeys to Corvis to establish diplmoatic connections and forge new financial channels, they have begun a new career in crime.
Mara de Niclaeys, a progressive and a skilled arcanist, sees two ways to fortune, crime & magic. "Working" with the famed Godwin Gilroy, she has begun collecting powerful and mysterious artifacts, that just might save the family.
Cash flows are tight and the two groups have agreed to smuggle a chache of illegal firearms into Corvis to help establish their foothold. Mara de Niclaeys has called upon her recently widowed cousin Dyra de Niclaeys and her escort Deacon Glaas to ensure the families interest. Telling them that if anything goes bad, it's their necks. She has also asked Godwin Gilroy's personal treasure hunter, Isabella Beaumont, to tag along and keep an eye out for anything interested, saying "you know what I mean". The increasingly unforgiving Alcyr Hakkyth, wanting to secure the budding new partnership with House de Niclaeys, has sent his best muscle Sy, Lyssor Hallyr, and Malak Dargash to deal with any "trouble".
It was a job, just like any other - until night fell in the swamps of Cygnar. The bullets rained down with the same ferocity as the growing storm. With a bolt of lightning, the job went south. The timing and the location of the strike were a little too perfect. Lyssor Hallyr and Malak Dargash got lost in the same moment that Deacon Glaas realized whomever attacked could stop his magic.
Stranded in a mystical and magical swamp and on the hook for a cache worth more than any of their heads, The Requiem must tread lightly.
