The War of Ash: First World War

The Conflict

Tension had been simmering for decades between the mighty Erbeilian Empire the ambitious Methaca Empire and the alliance known as the growing a Quad-Powers (the Kingdom of Amigia, the Grand Duchy of Tacia, the City-State of Vict, and the Kingdom of Lacri). Competition for resources, territorial disputes, and a web of complex alliances fueled a growing sense of unease across Caelum Prime. The assassination of the heir to the Erbeilian Empire by a radical nationalist group from the Methaca Empire severed as the spark that ignited the tinderbox.

The Erbeilian Empire confident in its vast military, swiftly mobilized its forces. The Methaca Empire, readily joined the fray. The Quad-Powers, bound by treaty, counted with a full scale mobilizaiton. Millions of soldiers were called to arms, transported by across land by any means necessary.

The fighting sprawled across multiple fronts:   The Western Front: A brutal trench war erupted along the heavily fortified border between the Methaca Empire and two of Quad-Powers, the Kingdom of Amigia and the City-State of Vict. Lush farmlands were churned into muddy wastelands, scarred by barbed wire and artillery carters.   The Eastern Front: The Erbeilian Empire launched a brutal offensive against the Methaca Empire, aiming to cripple their industrial heartland. The vast plains of both two Empires became a battleground for mechanized warfare and cavalry charges.   Colonial Conflicts: Battles erupted in distant colonies held by the Erbeilian Empire and the Quad-Powers, adding another layer of complexity to the global conflict.

The war was a brutal slog. Soldiers endured horrific conditions in trenches, facing machine guns, artillery barrages, and chemical weapons for the first time. Disease, food shortages, and the psychological trauma of constant shelling took a heavy toll on morale.

The Engagement

The war was characterized by a brutal stalemate on the Western Front. Technological advancements like tanks and airplanes offered fleeting advantages, quickly countered by new defensive measures.   On the Eastern Front, Methaca Empire achieved intial success with their mechanized forces but were eventually bogged down by Erbeilian Empire detrimined resistance.   Colonial conflicts saw a mix of guerilla warfare, brutal campaigns of conquest, and the use of exotic creatures.
