Structure
The Rugallan Empire is ruled by an elected council. Some amount of deference is given to the monarchy, although it is largely ceremonial.
The national government largely concerns itself with affairs surrounding the capital and the world at large. Most of the country is sparsely populated, and instead organizes at the county level.
Culture
There is tremendous cultural diversity on the Island of Rugallia. There is a busy, metropolitan feel to Suridge - a bustle, with quick speech, little time for pleasantries, and an emphasis on station, title, and coin.
Demography and Population
The majority of Rugallia's citizens reside in the industrial capital of Suridge and the various port cities on the island's perimeter. The peoples of the highlands and countryside are spread out in their counties.
The citizens of Rugallia span many species. Particularly in the streets of Suridge, you are likely to bump into an orc or a goblin as a human or an elf. These "hardier" races have thrived in the countryside and became tremendous assets during the boom of manufacturing and industry.
Military
The Rugallian forces are among the most well equipped and organized the world over.
While officially at peace, Rugallia's advances into new areas and colonies have rarely been well received. They have been in a state of small armed conflict for hundreds of years, quelling uprisings and mutinies in their colonies and puppet states.
Technological Level
Rugallia leads the world in technology, with many recent advances coming from within their borders. They have the most airships of any nation.
Agriculture & Industry
It may be fair to call Rugallia the industry capital of the world. Massive factories build along the coast receive raw material and proceed to refine and assemble many goods in high demand the world over. Rugallia closely guards their trade secrets to retain this competitive advantage.
Most of the farms in Rugallia produce root vegetables. The grey skies and harsh winds can make it challenging to grow a variety of plants.
Trade & Transport
Isolated from the rest of the world, Rugallia has long relied on ships for trade and transport with the rest of the world. Many cargo and passenger vessels have home ports on Isle Rugallia. It is not difficult to move goods or peoples across the sea - if somewhat time consuming.
Education
The Greater Suridge area has well funded and structured education, providing education into the teenage years. Rural Rugallia's educational supports vary widely.
Infrastructure
The Greater Suridge area is well served by numerous roads and rail lines. These give way to dirt roads and sparse freight lines further into the countryside.
