The Lantern of Dalphus
This ornate relic of The Church of Dalphus is a single finely cut gemstone, partially translucent, with a single blue flame flickering in the centre. Cradling the stone, strange and slightly disturbing, are writhing amorphous figures crafted from the finest silver. The pale blue light that emanates from the lantern is said to call to the souls of the recently dead, guiding them to the domain of Dalphus.
To ensure only the most worthy of followers of Dalphus are granted passage to their lord's domain without first passing through the judgement of Koathet, the Lantern of Dalphus has been kept secretly in a small church of Dalphus in the Fort Town of Toregard, only to be retrieved when one of the senior clergy is close to death.
Recently the sanctum was broken into, its caretaker killed, and all items of value taken from the vault, including the Lantern. It is unclear if the Lantern was the target, and attempts to divine its location by powerful clerics of Dalphus have only provided brief, murky glimpses of what appears to be the ghost of the caretaker holding the it aloft before him.

History
The Lantern of Dalphus is said to have been found deep in the ruins beneath Port Kolin around Circa 11195AF by a group from The Delver Guild who were mapping sub-catacombs for a route into the Darklands as a possible trading venture. They stumbled upon an ancient temple to Dalphus; sitting upon the altar was an ornately crafted lantern of silver, with a pale blue glow emanating from within the housing.
They agreed to take the lantern with them, as they could discern no malevolent magics upon it, and it provided an effective light source for the Darklands, which seemed endless in nature. Upon returning to the guild headquarters in Port Kolin, they were met by a senior cleric of Dalphus who had been awaiting their return, demanding the return of the holy relic.

Significance
This relic, proclaimed a holy item of Dalphus, has not been seen by anyone outside of the Church's inner circle. It is said that the Lantern is brought into the chambers of the High Priests and Priestesses as they approach death, as the light of the lantern will ensure their soul's passage to the domain of Dalphus.
