General Summary
Orientation Day begins and ends with crises
The platform
Players find themselves on the round platform in Archway Commons with many various others.
Locke and Rex appear, Rex gravely injured. Thalia and Loji immediately heal him. Locke thanks, goes with Rex and medics.
Mewlithorne of the Wilds introduces himself to Thalia and Loji. Positive because he appreciates their willingness to come to a stranger's aid.
Mewlithorne concerned and helps Irisash up when she collapses from culture shock.
Lazeah notes that a young female Githyaki is on platform, wearing the same sword she saw on the male Githyaki earlier that day.
Thalia noticed Voldrumon and Winstable missing, remarks as she looks for them. A small green creature with attitude wanted to know what she knew of Winstable, left immediately after Thalia explained he transported with her and another student but neither appeared here.
Automaton offers info about orientation, directions. Pale skinny grey guy knew to ask automaton (butler) to speak Common. Lazeah and Loji communicate with it.
Loji gets his cart delivered by porters to his dorm.
Scattered orientation
Concerned about her reception by other students, Lazeah goes alone to Biblioplex to learn about Strixhaven. Irisash heads that way too, and meets Lazeah and the Colonel on the way.
Loji and Thalia join Rosamidinbip's tour group and get the whirlwind flying tour of the campuses. Depart archway commons on main campus to explore separately.
In Biblioplex, Lazeah and Irisash check out the store.
Loji gets directions to the Garage, finds Gregor Copperpot repairing the automaton Carl. Loji assists with repair. Gregor is impressed enough to offer Loji a job. Loji offers to continue helping with orientation day backlog of repairs.
Thalia rides the public transportation around main campus to get oriented, notices someone mostly naked getting kicked out of the Firejolt Cafe, and the live entertainment sign. Once Thalia has her bearings, she heads to the post office, meets Blagert, ands sends a brief letter to family in Faerun.
Lazeah acquires an orientation itinerary from the librarian, finds out her dorm is Bigby Hall, goes to the orientation speech, and participates in and completes the scavenger hunt, assisting Aisla at the store. She gains the scavenger hunt items (plush fractal mascot, notebook, pennant, potion of healing, small hooded lantern full of oil)
Irisash gets directions to library books in orcish and finds a book by a former orcish student. She asks for more info about him and his homeworld, but understands little of the librarian's reply. She may still have the book.
Loji finishes work and goes to the Bow's End for food and drink. There he is recognized by Locke and thanked by Rex. He asks for no reward but says friends are always welcome. They socialize and later return to the Biblioplex together to complete orientation.
Thalia returns to Biblioplex for more orientation, completes scavenger hunt, gains scavenger hunt items (healing potion, pennant, colour changing fountain quill, inkling mascot stuffie, small hooded lantern full of oil). Looking for what to do next, she spots Lazeah and introduces herself. They chat about healing spells and what is next on the itinerary.
Wild Magic on the first day
Irisash searches for orcs, finds some at Firejolt Cafe, and demands to see their magic. They finish eating and cast one impressive spell to show her, which forces them all to vacate the area together to avoid getting in trouble. They introduce her to Green Skin House post-revels, and she meets Boris, the head of security. Positive, because he headbutts and gets orcish culture. Then Irisash plays her birdpipes for her new orcish friends, resulting in everyone in earshot growing white feathers, including Irisash. She says this will probably wear off, and returns to biblioplex.
First day fight!
Screaming panicked people are fleeing from the amphitheatre. Irisash, the feathered, immediately runs toward the amphitheatre with a cry of "First Day Fight!" Loji uses her slipstream to carve his path, and when she discovers him behind her she lifts him to her shoulder, and blasts through the now opening crowd of fleeing people. Lazeah spots them and also decides to run towards the amphitheatre. Last, Thalia runs after Lazeah.
In the amphitheatre, mimics, that look like wooden chests with teeth and tentacles, have injured many, and these victims are strewn on the floor and stage unconscious. Irisash fights using her two-handed weapon, Lazeah tries to ascertain the creatures' motives, perhaps to avoid further conflict, but finds only anger. She joins Irisash fighting them with her spear and prompting Colonel to attack. Loji fired his gun into them and Thalia, from the middle of the room used her hand crossbow to fight them. After both mimics are destroyed, Irisash is down to 4 HP.
