Sterngarten

The magnificent city of Sonnenturn is famous not only for being one of the oldest standing structures in all of Breon, but also for the wonderous diamond sculpture gardens of the Sterngarten. Created long before the breaking, perhaps even in the age of Antivum, by lost arts, the Sterngarten is one of the oldest wonders in Breon. Many believe that when the first star elves looked to the skies and searched for the highest peaks in order to attain their places of worship, they stumbled upon the natural crystal growths of Mount Errheluun and discovered a means of shaping them. Some say that the crystals and diamonds of the mountain were shaped magically, directed to grow with precise arcane or divine instruction. However, any star elf will tell you that it was the old bards who first drew out the crystals and who sang them to life. They did not instruct the crystals to grow, but merely enticed and encouraged them. The crystals did the rest.

To add to the natural mystery of the place, many reports claim that when the earth shook during the The Breaking, the Sterngarten began to glow with an internal light. It grew brighter than the trapped and refracted light of the sun and moon and stars and bathed the whole of Errheluun in its light. Most accounts become confused or disordered beyond that, but all confirm that after the light faded, the earth stood still and Errheluun, the Sterngarten, and the city around it were unharmed though much of the other mountains and land around it had sunk into the desert or been washed out into the sea.
