The great star wall is a wall of stars stretching from one edge of the Andromeda galaxy to the other. The line of this star wall points directly towards the Milky Way galaxy. Every system in the star wall has a defensive station and a strange precursor focusing lens. Some scientists believe that these were used to create the trans galactic hyper warp lane.
To go past it you have to go through one of the star wall systems, this grants a massive strategic advantage to the alliance defensively.

One of the five entry points is found at the edge of the star wall. The other four entry points emanate from both sides of it. It is comprised of many millions of star systems.
