Pyrennia

Queen of the Cycle Pyrennia (a.k.a. Everqueen)

Spring arrives on the brisk winds that carry new life into the world. Life is still fragile in these fledgling moments, as the menace of winter still lingers and the rains wash away unprotected saplings. Summer slowly takes over, providing great bounty and rapaciousness in equal measure. Autumn lies within the shadows of the trees, underneath the rocks, and in the quiet places of the land - it is often the most patient of the seasons. Somehow, winter often surprises even the most prepared farmer with silence and death, yet the cycle continues. The ignorant curse the dangers the seasons bring without understanding their simple inevitability. The promise of Pyrennia.   She alone walks the seasons unhindered. Changing with them simultaneously, Pyrennia moves with the grace of spring, the passion of summer, the thoughtfulness of fall, and the decisiveness of winter. All lands are under her influence, yet certain places across the world are sacrosanct to her. These places embody the purity of a given season, and there she may be contacted at any moment. A simple offering of food will suffice. No matter the season, one cannot go without this basic necessity. However the veil between the Feywild and the prime are very weak as one approaches. Many hopeful petitioners have been lost to the woods, caves, and other locales where Pyrennia's power peaks.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Pyrennia is usually encountered in the form of a svelte young woman in her mid twenties to early thirties. She is not of athletic appearance, though that belies her actual physical capabilities which are comparable to any other deity.

Body Features

Her body is adorned by flowing markings that change with the season in which she represents:

  • Fractal, snowflake-like lines run over her body while in winter. Additionally, she appears slightly more gaunt, yet is not inhibited in any way.
  • Vines, blooming patterns and swirling wind patterns flow across her body when attuned to spring.
  • Patterns like fire and embers dominate her skin and ripple across her body, reacting to her level of excitement during her summer mood.
  • Asymmetrical branch-like markings climb from her extremities up her limbs and from where a mortal's navel would be as she reflects autumn.

Facial Features

While capable of altering her appearance at will, she prefers to keep several characteristics when meeting with others. A slightly heart-shaped face is preferred, along with almond-shaped eyes, a slim, smaller nose, almost full lips, pronounced cheekbones, and markings around her eyes that correspond to her mood as mentioned above.

Identifying Characteristics

She bears a circlet of vines, Persistence, which blooms with various flowers depending on her moods:
Spring: Bleeding Heart Summer: Hibiscus Autumn: Chrysanthemum Winter: Camellia

Special abilities

Pyrennia is capable of altering the biological process of most creatures, with the ability at its strongest in close proximity to her. Whether or not this is done by altering time or other means is known only to her. Additionally, she is capable of magical flight and the ability to cast magic without the use of material, somatic, or verbal components and has a massive comprehension of druidic and nature magic.

Apparel & Accessories

Pyrennia's wardrobe is rarely consistent. She wears an ever-changing gown composed of what appear to be leaves in various states of flowering and decay. Pyrennia also wears a belt that appears as a brown chord. This is actually her personal weapon, the legendary whip: Blackthorn.

Intellectual Characteristics

The seasons often dictate what sorts of activities can be done and when to do them. Even in areas where there are ostensibly no changes in climate or precipitation, there are subtleties that allow native people to reap the greatest rewards compared to those who are new to those lands. It is not so simple as deciding when to plant or to harvest. It is more. Decisiveness and planning are the among most preeminent features of the stories of the Everqueen, though not necessarily because she exhibits those qualities, but rather is the reason for which they exist. Tarrying in summer leads to famine in the harshness of winter. Lessons unlearned are bound to repeat themselves and therein lies her wisdom.

Taboos

At some point during conversing with her a gift must be offered to her, otherwise she may take offense. She prefers a personal craft of sorts, but will take information as well.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

More of a curator than an active agent of change, Pyrennia's main objectives are to observe the cycles of the seasons and the patterns therein. Due to this, aberrant activities are anathema to her very being and she despises interference from the undead, demons, and other forces that oppose the natural order. While other fey entities do her bidding before mortals do, she has on occasion been known to bestow her favor directly to those who fight for her causes. Rangers, druids, and certain warlocks are her preferred champions, though other professions less directly in tune with nature can also receive her direct aid.

Social

Speech

Hearing Pyrennia speak is simply mesmerizing, to the point where one may occasionally forget they were in conversation to begin with. The musicality of her voice may change depending on which aspect of the seasons she embodies. Spring imparts the semblance of bird songs and chimes. Summer gives her voice a rounded, full, almost voluptuous quality to it. The nature of autumn may surprise some listeners as it is the least musical, though many may have expected that of winter - which is indeed hushed, but conveys the most beautiful delicate timbre that it resembles clear ice in its marvelous purity.
