Lolth, also known as The Spider Queen, Queen of the Demonweb Pits, Dark Mother, Mother of Lust, and Lady of Chaos, is the most influential goddess of the Drow and a member of the Outcast Deities. Within The Dark Seldarine, she embodies deceit, chaos, and ruthlessness. Lolth manipulates the drow into constant infighting under the guise of culling the weak, though her true objective is to maintain absolute control over the dark elves and prevent the rise of alternative faiths or ideas. Despite her amusement in the turmoil among her followers, her influence has long hindered the drow from unifying against common threats or causes.
Her sacred animals are arachnids, and she holds them in such high regard that mistreating them is considered a grave offense, often punishable by death.

Legends

Lolth's teachings often tell tales of betrayal, cunning, and power struggles among her followers. One legend describes how Lolth tricked an entire drow house into betraying itself, sowing discord that led to its downfall. She rewarded those who played her game of deceit successfully and used the story to illustrate the dangers of complacency and the importance of ruthlessness in the pursuit of power.
