Swamp madness

In 712.II, in a small village on the Nool river in the Blue Sea, was the place of a strange affliction: One by one, the people of the willage started to show unexpected symptoms. It started with headaches, insomnia, and balance disorder. Soon, the whole village got sick, and the disease got stronger. As the illness took hold of the brain, people started to hallucinate, move randomly, and lost the ability to speak normally.   A team of clinicians, who had been dispatched by the sookvan hospital, described the scene as they reached the village:
"The whole village was silent. People were wandering around with uncoordinated movements. They didn't look at us, they didn't even seem to respond to us talking. Some children were randomly crawling, unable to stand up. We didn't even know what to do in this situation. We were afraid, for those people in front of us did not even feel like they were humans."
The disease ended up transforming all the the village along with the clinicians who got it, into mindless vegetables, eventually killing some. It was later described to be a worm-like parasite which infects peoples through mud and reaches the brain to multiply in it. The parasite will eventually be destroyed from the body, but not before it deals heavy damages to the brain and releases a lot of offsprings through saliva. People disabled by the disease are called no-minders, as they often lose all capacity of interaction. They often don't last long for lack of care because of reneral repulsion towards them.   Since then, all villages in the wetlands are aware of this threat, and everyday efforts to avoid ingesting dirty water or swamp mud have been spread and implemented. But it does not prevent all infections, and a few outbreaks have been reported since, with impressive mental aftereffects.
