Sayings from the old lands

The rural communities of the Blue Sea share lots of familiar adages, particularly among nomad herders. They often relate to the nomadic life, around the interactions with heavers and with the region's fauna.
"When heeruses are frizzy, times are gonna get chilly"
Heeruses are known to grow a thicker hide when winter is about to come, so herders will watch out for these warning signs.   "Be kind to your heaver, or you'll cross the sea alone"
We've seen countless cases of travelers being rescued after their heavers have run from them. They are smart beasts, and wont hesitate to flee if their loyalty is tested. Serves them right.   "Fool the huntsbeast once and the whole pack is pissed"
Honesty is a virtue in a group; trust is hard to earn and easily lost.   "It's no good news when Gooloos have already left"
Gooloos are shy, and them disappearing can forecast the presence of dangerous predators in the area. Watch out!   "Kill a heerus and eat for a month, keep it alive and eat once a month"
What would you prefer? Opulence and durability are hardly compatible. This saying has given birth to an other one, more often said as a small catchphrase: "Eat the meat or the egg"
"Grasses are blue when the wind goes north, and green when wind is out. Watch out for grey, or you'll lose your way"
Dominant winds blow from south to north, laying blue grasses down. When it's calm, grasses stand tall and show their green undersides. But when the fog thickens, or when it starts to pour, it becomes much, much harder to find your orientation. It's easy to get lost in the monotonous plains...

A few adages are still used in the ancient language, the VEERV (pronounced weeru). Even if the language is long dead, old sayings and expressions have lived on. Some are still very popular, while others are getting forgotten. They are lessons for the adventurous, or nice catchphrases.
VOO SE VAe NE MAE, NI SE VANea U DAEé ORDI "When you go by the mountains, don't forget to write your testament" what else is there to say... Mountains are dangerous guys.   YE we LOe NICOI Aeii GIReé ke ET "He who navigates the unknown will be blessed by it" is not that rare to hear, from reckless adventurers, as a justification for their way of life.   MIIE Ae GEVO ke GIR ke KAL "We are rich of Kalendos' blessing" is a good old religious saying, widely used to bid someone good luck, an is also the motto written on most Shield pieces.
