Hiram The Dwarven Forge

Description: This was at some point in time a normal Dwarven Forge but either due to the experimentation of it's initial owner, the acts of it's Vampiric captors, or it's time spent submerged in the magically potent brackish purple waters of The Wash but it has been changed in a few mysterious ways.   The most important aspect of these changes is that this particular Dwarven Forge is sentient, and would like to be called Hiram.   Hirams physical appearance is mostly similar to that of other Dwarven Forges, a large and wide base made of bronze with a console on which buttons with Dwarvish Runes are engraved.   Set into and on top of this base is a large glass orb with sides of silver that can be moved to provide entry to the middle of the Orb. These silver sides have large pads of intricate golden lines that the user may place their hands on whilst the Forge is working to manipulate the contents during smithing.   Hiram's physical alterations when compared to its bretheren are in the small square clumps of red Maizina that have grown across it's exterior, and the way that the otherwise fine and defined edges of a typical forge are somewhat melted and drooping like a Salvador Dahli painting.   Attunement Quest: Before Hiram will let anyone near it again, it wants to be sure that it's next owner will both   A: Care for him B: Know what they're doing   So his attunement quests are to clean him (please the water's disgusting), and to prove yourself by forging a simple dagger (DC10 Smithing Tools Check).   Do both and you pass.   Statistics: Hiram doesn't require attunement and is capable of the following effects.   Dwarven Forging: Hiram can act as a functioning Dwarven Forge, meaning that for the purpose of crafting equipment Hiram is considered equal to that of a full Blacksmiths Forge.   If the user wishes to craft any mundane piece of equipment and provides the necessary resources then they may use a suitable DC Smithing Tools Check to do so.   Dwarven Heating: By utilising the right Dwarven Rune on the console the user is also be able to superheat anything placed inside of the Forge. Potentially destroying or melting mundane objects.   Dwarven Cooling: By utilising the right Dwarven Rune on the console the user is able to supercool anything placed inside of the Forge. Potentially destroying or freezing mundane objects.   Experimental Breakdown: Hiram also has the ability to breakdown items of Rare or lower Rarity within itself, producing an amount of normal Maizina in accordance with how potent the magical item was, half of it's determined value.   This process destroys the item irreversibly as if thrown into a volcano (This process doesn't effect items of higher rarity for now).

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Dwarven Forges utilise runic magics to absorb ambient magical energy and convert it to heat or cold very efficiently. This combined with a number of manipulation enchantments similar to a very deft Mage Hand only made possible by it's engraving in the metals of the Dwarven Citadels allow a Dwarven Forge to do its work.   The sentience part is anyones guess.

Manufacturing process

A very well kept secret.

History

Found within the depths of a sunken boat in The Wash, this Dwarven Forge likely used to be owned by an Alchemist of The Wash before falling afoul of the towns Vampire problem in its depths.   It was either by the experimentation of one of it's previous owners, or by the power of The Wash's strange potion polluted waters that Hiram gained the sentience it now enjoys.
