King Icarex Overthrown

Political event

An uprising from a number of different spheres of society overthrows King Icarex in Tailaphon.

After several years of terror living under King Icarex's paranoiac oppression, citizens, military officials, merchants, and nobles rose up together to depose him. They stormed the palace, killing the elite guard and hunting down the members of Icarex's inner circle who had conceived and carried out his cruel directives. Among them was Sotiravisi, his top advisor and lover. It is said that the mob found and attacked Sotiravisi, leaving him dying on the floor, then searched the palace for Icarex. When they eventually circled around again, they found him hunched over Sotiravisi. They chased and caught Icarex, stabbing him over a dozen times before he jumped off a balcony into the ocean. His body was never found.

In the following years, Tailaphon was ruled temporarily by the military for 4 years until a new parliamentary code could be written and a democracy established.
