Few have the opportunity to have long or deep conversations with Amanda Brines as they are always jetting around from boat to boat in the Floating Market. Many have had the chance to argue with Amanda, often finding themselves shouting at them without being quite sure why. Amanda is naturally antagonistic, quick to anger, and even quicker to forget about the whole thing, though few have ever heard an apology from them. Most know to just pay their dues, move their boats, and follow Amanda's rules with a quick "yes chief" if they want to avoid trouble.

Appearance

What Amanda Brines lacks in physical height or stature, they make up in energy. They have short dark blond hair that is usually kept under a tide back bandana or head rag. They usually wear a grey or brown one piece jumpsuit tied in the middle with a cord. They carry a long quarterstaff that they use to steer their boat around the market, but many have seen them use it as a weapon to handle unruly customers, stubborn merchants, or bold thieves.

Title/Job

As the "Market Boss," they are in charge of the loose, mostly unspoken organization of the boat stalls in the Floating Market. While there are no official lots or designations, there are frequent conflicts between the merchants for prime real estate and Amanda is usually there to adjudicate.
In addition, they see to the security of everyone at the market, making sure fights don't get out of control, that goods are by and large not wantonly stolen in broad daylight, that customers pay in accepted currency and that they receive the items they are promised, and to a degree that quality of goods and services does not drop below the, frankly, low minimal standard expected.
In exchange for these services, Amanda is quick and insistent in asking for a token fee from the merchants, which almost all pay whether out of gratitude for Amanda's work or out of a desire to avoid the headache they'd cause for anyone who refused to pay.
