Michiko Sanderson
Michiko Sanderson- Arasaka
The daughter of Kei Arasaka was born and raised in the USA while her father was head of that branch of the Arasaka Corporation. She lived a sheltered life and was unaware of the horrors wrought by the Fourth Corporate War. When the nuke destroyed Arasaka Tower and much of central Night City, and her father committed seppuku to take on the failings of family — she was in shock. Her home and her father was gone and the world blamed her family for it.
Then president Elizabeth Kress ordered the deportation of anyone related to Arasaka upper management. To some surprise, she agreed to talk to the young Michiko separately. To an even greater surprised, Michiko was granted full citizenship and freedom. There might be more to their arrangement, but neither has acknowledged anything like that. Michiko started a detective agency (and mercenary company) called Danger Gal with headquarters in Night City as it was being rebuilt.
In 2053, the New United States of America adopts its new constitution. This also resumes elections after President Kress' several decades of holding onto power. David Whindam was elected the first president of the NUSA. By this time, public opinion has shifted somewhat regarding Arasaka. It had become clear that they aren't, at least not directly, responsible for the Night City bomb. And profits could be made by being open to better trade with Japan again. As a result, Michiko reestablished contact with her aunt and uncle. Since Yorinobu had also been opposed to the family and since returned to the fold, the two of them have been able to understand each other more than she has connected with others.
While still in her 20s, Michiko found the love of her life: Marc Sanderson. They got married, and he worked for her at Danger Gal for many years. She was devastated when he died and she still prefers not to talk about it. It's unclear if she returned to Arasaka as her last name again in the late 2050s to distance herself to grief or to get closer to the corporation. Maybe both. She has kept her cards closer to the chest as she's got older.
Danger Gal still exists as a corporation, but Michiko is less involved in its operations than she used to. She's now also a board member at Arasaka and she has access to personal resources within the corporation.
