Phoenix
The phoenix was a legendary creature that resided in the Academy under the care of Haranos the Wise and his scholars. Only one phoenix was ever discovered.
Although thought to be immortal, burning up and being reborn with every death, this cycle could be broken. Separating the ashes in between death and birth, the phoenix dying in water, or the phoenix choosing to not be reborn could all prevent rebirth. The phoenix's death was mentioned in the Prophecy of the Dawn issued by Egrarion the Terrible.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A bird, the phoenix was decorated with brilliant scarlet plumage, its feathers long and sleek. It had a jet black beak and golden eyes.
Biological Traits
The phoenix, upon death, would be enveloped by flames, its ashes collecting where it stood. Within a minute, the phoenix reformed as a chick, beginning its life anew. The research of Haranos and his scholars revealed the reborn phoenix retained its memories but needed to relearn some motor functions as if it required acclimatisation to its new body.
