Every time I drop a new piece the first thing people ask me is "yo T, how'd you get up there?", so Imma tell you all about it right here so I got something to link to instead of needing to explain it all the damn time <3

It's called a monohook. It's a piece of cyber that no one makes anymore and if you're smart (unlike me), you won't go trying to find one.

The mono replaces the bones in your arm with this retracting hook and a motor. When you wanna use it, your skin breaks on a seam for the hook to slide out. You're supposed to use them on the skycar rails, so instead of waiting for a ride, you just pop the hook out of your arm and latch on. Then the motor kicks on and you zip around on the rails all by yourself. Then you can get off wherever you want, even if there ain't a stop there.

So why is it bad? Because they're built like shit. Basically it's just got too many moving parts and the parts that move go fast as fuck. The motor breaks if you use it too much, it breaks if you don't use it enough. The hook snaps off if you go too fast, sometimes the motor fucks up and makes you go twice the max speed. It attaches kind weird to your arm, so if you go to a slasher that don't know how to put it on, your arm might tear off. And if you're just stupid, you'll probably slam into a wall because this thing don't got automatic breaks.

Mine broke like four times since I got it. Motor busted once while I was using it, went two fast and the hook broke. Thankfully I was right at the end of the line by a rooftop so all that happened was I broke a few bones when I slammed into the concrete.

So why would you want one? Because they're cool as fuck. There's so many places you just can't fucking get to these days without one. Buncha megabuiling floors shut down in Del Sol, or corpo buildings in Sinclair they don't want you on the roofs of. The suits want you to forget that this is our city bro. We built this shit and you ain't seen nothing if you never sat on a Sinclair roof looking out into the water.

But I gotta be real with you, it's really fucking dangerous and I can't in good conscious tell you to track one down. But if you get one though, let me know and we can grab a beer on a rooftop somewhere <3

Hey man thanks for droppin me a line but I got some bad news for you, I don't got any monohooks to sell ya. I mean shit I love the dedication, but those motherfuckers got taken off the market fast as fuck for a good reason.

Back when they came out had a line out the door tryin to get one. But then I saw the same people I cut open splattered on the floor after the mono failed. That or they slammed into a skycar or building trying to use that thing.

But hey look, my stash ran out but if you can get your hands on one I'm game. There's still a few of them floating around out there, so it probably won't be too hard to find one. Not like most people wanna use them you know? If you do find one though, I'm counting that as an external piece so I'm gonna upcharge your ass a little bit.

Besides that, just let me know what you plan on using it for. If you're just tryin to explore or do some art or something that's cool. But I don't fuck around with the gang shit no more, I don't need my shop getting shot up because you use the mono for something you shouldn't.

Robbery Suspect Dead After Monohook Malfunction

Amaranth - Agua Verde Peacekeepers say one man is dead and six are injured after a robbery turned shootout Thursday night in Amaranth, Sinclair Heights.

According to eyewitnesses, a four masked men entered the Emerald Way jewelry store just after 5:30 PM. The staff were in the process of closing the store when the men brandished weapons and attempted to take the employees hostage.

The suspects had begun to break display cases and attempted to access a secure vault, when two Gold Element PMC security officers allegedly opened fire on the suspects. The suspects are said to have returned fire as they fled, the security officers had been hired by Emerald Way through the Gold Element PMC to safeguard the store.

Both Gold Element PMC security officers sustained injuries, along with three Emerald Way employees and one bystander. First responders arrived moments after the suspects escaped on foot, with the victims being taken to Our Lady of Hope for emergency treatment.

Peacekeeping forces pursued the suspects, who escaped on foot before latching onto a nearby skycar rail with monohook cyberware implants. The monohook is a discontinued cybernetic enhancement manufactured by REm Cybernetics intended to be used for traversing the city by way of riding the skycar rails without the use of a vehicle. This cybernetic was recalled due to its high failure rate and the many deaths and dismemberments associated with its use.

Agua Verde peacekeepers say the suspect, 22-year-old Kyle Gordon was found abandoned on the 1200 block of Preston Drive. Authorities claim his monohook malfunctioned, taking a turn on the skycar rails too quickly which tore the suspects arm off his body. The body fell to the street, with the suspect dying on impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 6:30 PM. Peacekeepers are still searching for the remaining suspects, as well as the suspects severed arm.

REm Cybernetics is reportedly cooperating with the investigation, and have provided a statement to VOLK 22.
