Desert Ring Constructs

The desert ring constructs are a series of rings located in the heart of the Great Desert.

Purpose / Function

The Solar Observatory Launch Facility (SOLF) was constructed to launch the components for the Solar Observatory.

Architecture

The facility is a series of linear accelerator rings originally joined by a continuous tube. The rings near the origin point for the launch are beneath the ground, close to each other, and relatively level. The further from the origin the rings are, the further apart they are. They also approach a near vertical orientation.

History

The launch facility was built between 6297–6304 SA. Once all the Solar Observatory components were launched, it remained in service in order to supply the Observatory with both supplies and staff. Shortly after the start of The Event, a final launch of supplies and people was made. It fell into disrepair thereafter, as there was no one available to maintain it.
The bulk of the facility and most of the rings were completely swallowed by the desert in the intervening years. Recently, one of the rings was discovered and is being modified by a group of cultists hoping to summon a demon from another realm.
