Hill Dwarves

These Dwarves make their homes in hills and valleys of Notria. While not as strong as Mountain Dwarves, they are just as hardy, and generally considered to be a little more cunning then their mountain born cousins.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Hill Dwarf society is built up around the Clan much like with Mountain Dwarf society. They take clan honor just as seriously as their cousins. Powerful Hill Dwarf Clans are as follows: Caddlevale, Ironholt, Sivelpike, Rowlendale, Fullglen, and Jewlredge.

History

Hill Dwarves are the younger cousins of the Mountain Dwarves. Their heritage is generally traced back to just after the God War when a group of dwarves saw that the other races of Notria had begun to settle in the fertile valleys. The first Hill Dwarves were those that settled on valley sides using their skill at mining and crafting to trade with other species. This lead them to establish hillside towns and expand their trade from mining to logging, and farming. This expanded expertise helped them and they became more open to trade and living among humans and elves.   This leaving the mines and underground hall still causes some conflict between them and their cousins, as Mountain Dwarves are tempted to see them as a little less dwarven.
