Naming Traditions

Most gnomes pride themselves on extremely long names. Some of other races say this is to make up for their small stature. Usually a gnome is given the name first name of their mother or father. They acquire more names at important points in their lives, such as Coming of Age Ceremony, or their wedding. The name they take is usually that of some one important in their lives.

History

Gnomes were created through both Jasceenah and Wut'hyl. The two combined the salt of the ocean with the dust of the air in order to create a species both clever and fun.   When the gnomes were created both Wut'hyl and Jasceenah had plans for them. Wut'hyl quickly grew board of the gnomes, as he had with the Halflings. The gnomes, having been abandoned by one of their gods splintered into smaller groups, many following other gods. Some took to the water to follow Jasceenah, these became the Salt Gnomes . Some took to the mountains, finding the Dwarves, and taking their own way as miners and crafters, these became the Rock Gnomes . Some were enchanted by the woodlands, and the animals that made their homes there, and these became the Forest Gnomes, Forest Gnomes. The last group was lost to the underdark, where they carved out a life and became the Deep Gnomes.
