Dragons in Beyond Ragnarok | World Anvil

Dragons

Dragons have been part of the legends of the peoples of the nine realms for time immeasurable; but true dragons are seldom seen and are far and few between. There are different types of Draconic creatures, from the massive, to the small.

The Draki

The Draki are the massive dragons of legend, that breathe fire or poison and are able to fly. Many of these are told about in stories as bedtime horrors for children; but since Ragnarok only a few have been found to have be verified as real by accounts of the Gods that know of them.

The Ormr

The Ormr are accepted as myth, as none have ever been proven. Nobody can say where the idea of these creatures came from, and there isn't a story where one is featured that can be verified by another other than the tale spinner. The notion of these creatures heralds back to Midgard and are of creatures that look like Reptilian Jotunborn, but have wings.

The Wyrm

The Wyrm are present on all of the higher realms; though they are extremely rare. They are Draki in miniature and the belief is that they are all that is left of the original colossal monsters of legend, though without the ablity to breath fire or posion. The biggest one recorded was only five feet long from snout to tail.

It is considered good luck to see or be visited by a Wyrm, but they rarely stay long. Little is known about their habits or their lifespan, but they have been seen in a variety of colours both solitary, or flying in family groups.
