Folkvargr Council in Beyond Ragnarok | World Anvil

The Council of the Folkvargr

The council of the Folkvargr are made up of 5 individuals. These individuals nominally live within the main town of Saross, to the Northern end of their lands, though their rule is absolute in all settlements.

Council Lead; the Karl

There is a clan leader who is the head of the Folkvargr clan, called the Karl. This individual is hereditary, and the leading family has not changed in over 100 years. Upon the eldest child’s 18th birthday they are made Karl, and are advised by their council and their elder relatives. They are expected to listen to the words and advice of the other four council members, and make decisions for the clan accordingly where their direct input in required or requested.

The current Karl is Eerika Ulfhild

Council Positions

The remainder of the council is divided into four areas.

These are not hereditary like the Karl, and are held until death. Upon death, the successor is chosen by the Council. Each councillor usually has two apprentices.

The council positions are:

  • Military
  • Religion
  • Trade
  • Law
  • The people of the Folkvargr bring their opinions, views, and worries to these four individuals who then bring them up during any council gatherings.

These four will preside over day to day rulings in their respective areas, and are the heads of those areas for the entire clan.

    Council Apprentices

Each councillor has two apprentices; one of whom will succeed them, both of whom will learn from them during their lives, acting as their assistants.

  • Military apprentices will lead Clan war actions where needed.
  • Religious apprentices will lead religious ceremonies where needed.
  • Trade apprentices will handle resource disputes where needed.
  • Law apprentices will preside over trials where needed.
