The GLI Incursions were a massive set of uprisings across the Middle East. They were orchestrated by the Global Liberation Initiative, a large terrorist group made up of ISIS remnants and other Islamic Extremist groups. The GLI coordinated uprisings across the Middle East, from Israel to Pakistan. Uprisings in Saudi Arabia and the Gaza Strip quickly became populist risings, with heavy support from the local populations. Uprisings in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Syria and Iraq faced heavy military resistance, but in the confusion of the initial uprisings government forces were unable to mount proper defences. Only in Afghanistan and Pakistan were the uprisings a failure, due to the lack of popular support and quick reaction of the local militaries. The Incursion quickly became a great cause for concern to the UN Security Council, with Saudi Arabia, Syria and Iraq capitulating to the GLI within a week. The ensuing war utterly destroyed the Middle East, mass waves of refugees from liberated GLI territory flooded Europe, the Mediterranean, and India. After the war was over the Middle East was never fully rebuilt, as by that point the majority of global funding was being directed, by popular opinion, to the star ship design and construction

Israel

At 03:00 local time on the 12th of August 2043, GLI Militants stormed an IDF airbase on the Gaza Border. The gunshots were heard by the inhabitants of the surrounding town, and thousands of people ran from their homes, either to join the GLI militants or to flee for their lives. By daylight, the IDF base had been completely ransacked, its armouries emptied and hangers containing nothing but corpses. Several of the GLI Militants began boarding the F-35I fighters on the airfield, while others began to construct defences for the inevitable counter-attack. Merkava VI Main Battle Tanks were also stolen from the airbase, and driven north towards the location of a mass protest at the Gaza Wall. There the tanks opened fire on the Gaza Wall's defences. Not expecting to engage heavily armoured targets, the IDF troops could do little more than retreat from the wall, handing over the most important defensive asset to the now rapidly advancing GLI Incursion.   By August 16th, the GLI had taken swathes of land from the now fully mobilised IDF, thanks to their Blitzkrieg-like tactics and incredibly detailed planning. The use of captured IDF F-35Is and SU-57s captured from Syria was devastating in the first week of the conflict. However, the IDF began to receive support from UN Centurion Squadrons. Namely Raven and Falcon Squadrons. These Squadrons made use of the XF-45 Lightning III Multi Role Fighter, an incredibly advanced Generation 6 fighter that made the GLI pilots retreat just at the sight of them. However, the lack of numbers of the XF-45s meant that their reach and effect was extremely limited. Had the UN had more at their disposal the conflict in Israel would have likely ended much sooner. Nevertheless, the XF-45s allowed the IDF to begin tactical bombings against key GLI fortifications, allowing ground troops to advance and seize GLI territory.   1 year into the GLI Incursions, with all Middle Eastern Countries now at a state of total war, the stalemate in Israel was beginning to turn. War Exhaustion began to take its toll on captured industries in GLI occupied territory, and losses in Iran and Syria against foreign powers, namely the USA and India, had weakened the morale of many of the GLI troops. The IDF was now starting to take more and more land from the GLI forces, using encirclement of key settlements to force a surrender and precise airstrikes from the XF-45s of the Centurion Squadrons to destroy the GLI capacity to maintain its militias and airforce.   On the 6th October 2044, Israel Joined the UN Coalition Forces as a founding member. New foreign nations pledged their allegiance or support for the Coalition for weeks after its announcement. It was made clear the GLI was now global enemy #1, and that the UN and its allies would not stop until it's grip in the Middle East was destroyed. At this time the GLI lines were now nearing what was left of the Gaza Wall, and IDF forces were saying to each other "it will be over by Christmas". And for the first time in human history that phrase was right. GLI forces surrendered across Israel and Gaza on the 20th December 2044.   However, the true horror of the situation in the occupied territories did not come to light until after the final GLI resistance had been rooted out of major settlements. The GLI had been using Christians, Jews and anyone who did not conform to the GLI's Oath as slave labour in their factories. Where Centurion Squadrons had been bombing Factories believed to be used by and crewed by the GLI, they were in-fact bombing civilian prisoners. This fact hit hard on the members of Raven and Falcon Squadrons, with Raven 1 and Falcon 2 resigning their posts days after the information reached them.
Carl "Raven 1" Bjerg: "I do not wish to be part of a war machine that does not value civilians in their espionage reports. The loss of life in the GLI factories in Israel can be pinned solely to the IDF and UN Generals who refused to acknowledge the hatred and Nazi-like attitudes of the GLI. I may have pulled the trigger willingly, but that trigger was put in place by the men and women at HQ and I was told said trigger was bombing targets without civilian consequence. The XF-45 may be the most advanced fighter ever built, but what good is its precision if our generals sanction civilian deaths anyway?
