The Red Regiment Military Formation in Beyond Greater Anghor - A Middle Earth Adventure | World Anvil

The Red Regiment

Guard Royale

The winter of 2946 during the second age was less severe and more forgiving than the year prior and this was in no small part due to the efforts of a new well intentioned group who made their home in the lands of Anghor. Though no one had seen Lady Elanna, the Baroness of Greater Anghor, for nearly two years, throughout the later winter and early spring, a group of smartly regimented and equipped warriors emerged from The Keep, bearing the Baroness' seal, and began distributing food, building shelters, and helping the people throughout the countryside. Crimson banners adorned their armor, and they came to be know as 'The Red Regiment'.

Confrontation

Initially, the townsfolk thought the Red Regiment reported to Ivor, another addition to his growing Anghor Thum Militiamen. But it became quickly apparent that Ivor and the regiment were not under the same reporting structure. Though outright conflict has thus far been avoided, growing tension between the regiment and the militia has threatened to boil over from icy stares to outright armed conflict.

Clarity & Purity

The Red Regiment have taken control of Stojanow Gate, and other key choke points throughout the lands of Anghor, controlling and monitoring movement from south of the Grey Mountains to north of Bull's Head Trading Post. Most goods, services, and ultimately all travel now pass through their watchful gaze. Though their checkpoints tend to be simple affairs, there is little doubt the regiment takes special care with all the Anghor subjects beneath their care. The common folk, for their part, adore the guard.   Despite their magnanimous favor towards native folk from Greater Anghor, there has been a surprising increase in reports of vandalism, crime, and overall treatment of non-native Anghor residents. Whether this is directly linked to the regiment remains to be seen. Some interpret their required pledge of 'Clarity & Purity' merely a formality, but others, particularly those who suddenly feel persecuted, fear it may mean something much more.

I've heard Sheriff Ivor struggles from terrible consternation whenever the subject of the regiment is raised. God's know why though. The regiment brought me food when my family was hungry, and built shelters in town. And at what cost? A simple pledge of 'Clarity and Purity' as they call it.  Ivor would do well to take a hard look at those militiamen of his, how many of those grunts you think are pure, hmm?
