Súlfr

Once upon a time, during the Age of Magic, the lands we know as Skander were a Dwarven Kingdom. In Skandergard the Dwarven Highking had his throne and from there he ruled over vast lands. Humans lived in Skander then, but they were few and far between the dwarves, never living long enough to rise among their ranks.
In this kingdom, a human boy was born with stark white hair. They named him Andar . On his parents farm he grew up solitary, with lambs as his playmates and dogs as his guardians. Until one day, a travelling dwarf beheld him in the fields, seven years of age and his hair the colour of snow.
The king sent his warriors to bring the boy into the woods and leave him there to die. For it had been prophesied to him that a human child with hair of silver would bring his kingdom down. So they rode with him into the woods, rode for four days and nights before they tied the child to a tree and left him there.
As night fell and a full moon rose, wild animals began to circle the boy. With his hands tied and nothing but a stick to fight, he still scared off the beasts that tried to see if he was easy prey. Though his limbs were weakening and his mind grew tired, he did not yet sink to the moss beneath him.
There in the forest, silver hair gleaming in the moonlight, yelling at a young bear until it retreated into the forest, he drew Cerawna’s eye. Some say the goddess took pity, some say she saw greatness in him. No matter her motives, she sent her own companion for the boy: Súlfr, a giant she-wolf. As the wolf prowled through the trees toward him, twice as tall as any horse, young Andar grabbed his stick tighter. But the wolf did not kill him. She bit the rope around his hands and led him deeper into the forest.

Two decades later, a young man marched across the Dwarven Kingdom, leaving ruin in his wake. Alongside him fought men and wolves, but most fearsome amongst them was the giant she-wolf. She alone could tear apart a hundred dwarves, their weapons never leaving as much as a scratch on her skin.
Silver-haired man and golden-eyed beast, they fulfilled a prophecy that had once torn him from his family, and drove the dwarves deep into the mountain, where they remain to this day. In Skandergard they crowned Andar the Conquerer, the new King of Men, the giant wolf always at his side as he ruled.

Though she only ruled for a century, many count Súlfr amongst the great creatures of the Age of Magic. She was one of the last to die, breathing her last as Andar did, as she lay curled around his white-haired great-granddaughter, who went on to become Queen of Skander like her mother before her and her daughter after her.
