Vell River

The central river in the Driston Empire that joins with the Silverscale Stream and River Fero to form the River Caster at Marina's Fall. The river itself flows from meltwater and springs in Yillan Ridge running somewhat parallel to the Silverscale Stream, bordering Montvar and Areguá.
The river is considered shallow and not suitable for transit by large ships, but it is possilbe to navigate its run in sloops or smaller vessels. The waters are calm and gentle in winter but begin to swell in spring and early summer. There are two bridges that span its width to grant road access to Montvar and Areguá. 
Rumours persist that something wicked lurks in the water near the foothills of Yillan Ridge that preys on ships that wonder too far north. Montvar once sent several ships to investigate this rumour in 1199 but none returned.
