Silverscale Stream

The Silverscale Steam is the furtherest west river within the Driston Empire and is considered by most to be the boundry of the Empire. It runs from Yillan Ridge down to the join the River Caster in the south, fencing in both Areguá and Montvar. 
The name comes from the plentiful fish that stock this river for its entire length that cause the water to shimmer as if a serpent slithering southward. In late spring, the river is known to choke with fish that migrate from the southern portion to the north to spawn. This is considered a local marker by Dristons for the start of summer, and the quantity of fish dictates how well the empire will do that year. 
The river itself is wide and deep enough to allow large barges to navigate its course from cliffs above Phancaster to Areguá. Ships that travel this route are often trading goods between settlements or fishing in the waters. 
Locals say that the river is home to a powerful guardian who punishes those who take too greedily and protects the empire from invasion from the west.
