Chillgarde
This small city is the last stop for civilized people before venturing into the vastness of Les Forêts Jumelle, or further to the Gelida Colles. Attempts to build cities in that wilderness only results in the native fae and firbolgs becoming unpleasant neighbors. As such, Chillgarde is a cold but welcome pilgrimage site. Its primary attraction, beyond being the farthest outpost of true Imperial control before the wilds of Les Forêts, is its access to The Misty River and the hot springs at the river's mouth. A place widely known for its healing properties, the Misty River is often a last resort for those with diseases that defy magical healing. During the height of The Sundering Cough, thousands of nobles with heavy coin-purses made the trip south to bathe in its waters, for all the good it did them.
These days, Chillgarde's population maintains the southernmost stretches of the Imperial Highways, trades (carefully) with the denizens of Les Forêts Jumelle, and tries to keep warm year-round.
