Ruhark - Human

The Ruhark is a race of individuals born on the Plains of Karna. They are the most skilled horsemen and horsewomen in the world. The Ruhark revere horses as friends, companions, and family members. They are also cared for and trained as such.

Horsekin

It is said that the Ruhark children are fed horse milk as their first meal, and given a newly born colt as a sibling. Ruhark children and their colt siblings are then raised together. The children are taught that they are the older, and the colt the younger. The colt is trained to put the welfare of the child above their own. Both child and colt know no other existence.

Horse Warriors

The Ruhark horse warriors are well respected on the Plains of Karna. They ride a horse better than they walk, are deadly accurate with their horsebows and javelins, and have a propensity to adapt unconventional tactics seen nowehre else on Mélamar. Their "bladed barding charge" in particular is terrifying to behold, and even more terrifying to endure, should you live at all.

One People

Unlike most other people, the Ruhark are not divided. There are no tribes, no families, no clans, nor houses. They are all Ruhark, one people. They answer to the Khan and the Khan only. Without such divisions, anyone may attain any position within the loosely defined government of the Ruhark. Most positions are appointed by the ruling Khan, but the Khan is elected, after a fashion, and can also be removed in a similar manner.
