Abysin Species in Beren'Dor | World Anvil

Abysin

These cat-like people have made their home in the Sea of Sands, and together with the Sh'ezzari make up the People of the Sands. They are driven by curiosity and imagination.

A Race of storytellers.

"An Abysin customer is a book seller's nightmare" - A forlorn book seller, after allowing an Abysin to peruse his wares for far too long.

They are a race of storytellers and lore keepers, and are always searching for more lore and stories to tell. An Abysin can perfectly recall any story or bit of Lore they have committed to memory, word for word. These collected stories and lore are handed down from one generation to the next by rote, each generation reciting those pieces of lore and telling those tales and stories as if they were a product of their own experiences, rather than it possibly being an experience that an ancestor had in the distant past.

Abysin Tribes & Ethnicity

The Abysin are humanoid, typically short-furred creatures with tails. Their features and markings typically determine their what tribe/ethnicity they belong to. The following is a list of the more common features and markings of the Abysin, along with their tribe.

They tend to have pointed and angular muzzles, and larger canines than most other Abysin tribes. The Re'uven are a clan of scouts, often relied upon to range ahead of their roaming cities to ensure it is safe to do so. Likewise, they also serve as capable spies and, if necessary, assassins.

Zevulun. Reminiscent of a Desert Lynx, A Zevulun has a coat of light or dark brown, with black stripes or marking around eyes and muzzle, and tufts of black fur that grow straight up out of especially long and pointed ears. Their muzzles tend to have a downward, almost blunted cast to them. The Zevulun serve as the those who protect. Whether it be to guard their city, their people, or their caravans. They are as fierce and as hard as the land in which they dwell.

Yisskar. Dominated by scholars, historians, teachers, diplomats, and administrators, the Yisskar tribe typically involve themselves in the day-to-day affairs of the People of the Sands.
