The Lottery

The Lottery refers to the process by which fertile female citizens of the BC are chosen to be spouses for orvon soldiers and veterans of The Beourjen Army. The process happens annually and with varying numbers picked depending on demand for any given year. Numbers are chosen somewhat randomly, while accounting for economic and noble standing as well as proximity to demand. Beourjen City traditionally has the highest demand and numbers.

Delila and Daveer Leidevelt

Delila Leidevelt was chosen by the lottery in 1548 and chosen to be Daveer Leidevelt's bride despite having previously been betrothed to Evander Balassar. While it's less likely for noblewomen to be chosen for the lottery, it is possible, and the women are often cast out from their houses as Delila was.
