Arcana Poisoning
Arcana poisoning is the neurological and physiological disease that occurs from extended or severe arcana usage, usually over a longer period of time however a more rapid onset is possible in extreme cases. Cases are usually categorized as acute, moderate, or severe, and while mental deterioration is the primary symptom, physical deterioration also occurs in later stages of the disease.
There are a number of treatments used to help slow the course of the disease, the most widely used medication being varalys, however there's no reversing or completely preventing the effects of arcana poisoning once it's acquired. The best way to avoid the disease entirely, or slow down its deteriorating effects, is to avoid using or coming into contact with arcana as a whole.
