The Tyrant Character in Belthuran | World Anvil

The Tyrant

Arbus, Rahur, Tiamat, Father of the Profane, Master of Evil

Alignment: Lawful Evil   Portfolio: Death, Pain, Tyranny, abuse of power, greed   Worshippers: Evil people, corrupt rulers, those seeking power   Alignments: LE, LN, NE   Weapon: Subjugation - Spiked Chain   The Tyrant is an amalgamation of all evil in the world, there are many names that are but small portions that make up the being that can only be described as an elemental of pure evil in the same vein as the prime elementals that helped form Belthuran. Some speculate that as the Tyrant is an elemental that it did indeed partake in the creation of the world despite being evil there is a certain order that must be present to represent tyranny.   Arbus: The name for a human mage-king of Escini in the First Age who set about using his power to try and unite the various factions under his banner through any means necessary. This king was seen as a devil despite his reign being that which led to Escini becoming what it is today. His immediate Successor however was known to history as the Golden King so that helps seal the name Arbus as a title for the Tyrant.   Rahur: The spirit the Beast Races believe represents their primal rage and hunting the weak to sustain themselves. This spirit of the bloody hunt is venerated by the carnivorous and savage Beast races while the others see him as a nightmare of violent predators coming to kill and consume them.

Creation

The Tyrant is a strange example of a god, while it too was once one of the primordial beings subjugated by the World Forger it was molded to fit a very specific role while the others were left to discover themselves. The order being imposed drew the attention of other gods and powerful beings most of which were not benevolent beings. When they tried to influence his realm the World forger became enraged and crafted the Tyrant who became the power for evil in the sphere which meant all the intruder gods who were evil could only interact with the world through the Tyrant, but that also means they all have to fight each other to have influence over the Tyrant which to this day has kept any one evil deity from beyond the sphere from becoming a true menace. Many scholars believe that the Platinum Knight is a similar situation though voluntary on its part.

Holy Books & Codes

Shackles   The book that contains the will of the Tyrant the pages are made of flesh with words carved into the flesh and allowed to scar over before being cut from the body. The Shackles contain a very nihilistic view of the world in which the purpose of life is to suffer, but that your own suffering can be passed onto another by being stronger than them. Taking advantage of the weak and abusing your power will allow you to go through life without suffering. The only way to cast off the Shackles that bind is to have power and to use it to further only yourself.

Tenets of Faith

  • Suffer not the weak.
  • Take all that you desire.
  • There is no innocence.
  • if you don't take advantage of someone they will take advantage of you.

  • Struggle and gain strength only then can you break the shackles that bind you.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

To spread evil, cruelty, suffering, pain, and death to all that lives so all that exists does so under the weight of the Tyrant's far more literal shackles. Those who serve the Tyrant and live exceptionally cruel and tyrannical lives will find themselves even holding some of the chains of others but still under the shackle of the Tyrant.
