The Terrorgheist

Terrorgheist

The beings that exist within the Arcane, the plague of many innate casters with a few exceptions. Bards seem able to placate the worst of theirs through their music and can even help those suffering from a Terrorgheist attack relax and be at least momentarily freed. Some races begin play with their Terrorgheist in the 'tame' category meaning they are no longer attacked by this being and can begin to learn and understand just what it is.   There are five stages of bond with the Terrorgheist; Hostile, Tame, Bonded, Joined, and Apotheosis. These stages all represent different levels and have different benefits. There is no one set way to advance this bond nor are the benefits set in stone. Each Terrorgheist is as unique as the creature that formed it and these benefits can be manifested in ways unique to a campaign where the character is required to gain some power to defeat a villain or the like.   The Draz Tyran refuses to simply give the answers on what to do with the Terrorgheists, they do not see them in such a way either. The Draz Tyran view these beings as the Muldraz, inner dragon. The most any member of the empire will say is along the lines of 'Understanding is key.' They reference the nature of the Arcane and once this understanding is made the Terrorgheist can be confronted and once this understanding is presented and accepted the Terrorgheist changes, taking on the form of the caster save for bright yellow iris. The two then can begin their journey together to grow, at this stage the Terrorgheist itself does not know much of itself but, it knows everything the caster does. The other stages come with various insights and benefits such as aid in magical affairs from this being. The stages all manifest in different ways, once bonded the two are considered friendly and look out for one another actively. Joined the two are halves of the same being. Apotheosis is a very, very, very rare thing in which the two become one fully, the kobolds believe that is how they could become a dragon though such is mere myth at this point as those who achieve this rarely have remained on the material plane.   Terrorgheist bond:   Hostile   Tame   Bonded   Joined   Apotheosis

Creating a Terrorgheist

This process can be done fully by the DM or with help from the player of the character. Details about faults, phobias, strengths these sorts of things can also be observed during the game and should influence the evolution of the Terrorgheist. Early in its life the Terrorgheist is a watcher, waiting and learning of its creator to find a way to best confront them.     Appearance: A Terrorgheist takes on a form that it feels will intimidate the person viewing it. A common trait is that they tend to be very shadowy or most of their features are obscured. The only definite trait is bright yellow iris, these remain regardless of the evolution.   It should also be noted that if a character if not afraid of shadows and instead prefers them to light the Terrorgheist will change how it appears to take that fear.   Constant traits among them: Incorporeal, Immune to magic, only can be seen or noticed by the host.   Example: Early in the host Sorcerer’s career they would constantly feel as if something was watching their neck in the shadows, or movement in dark alleyways. About the midpoint of their career the Terrorgheist would begin to manifest itself if more direct ways being able to make things move in the real world and even manifest in front of the Sorcerer, rarely is this directly, sometimes behind an ally or among enemies. To an example Sorcerer who has a phobia of spiders it appears as a shadowy yellow eyed giant spider with various hooks and exaggerated features. Should a caster not have reached tamed status late into their career then it will evolve into the final form, sometimes known as the 'Mage-Slayer' or 'Pridegheist'   In the final form this gheist takes on the physical appearance of the caster. This is where they are at the strongest as they have also tapped into the emotion of pride and vanity. They look like the idealized version of the caster and seem to be utterly immune to all magic and possessing greater strength. A rather dramatic example of facing one's own demons. This is where the caster will have to confront the gheist and either defeat it or be defeated by it. In this form it is possible to kill the gheist but doing so would remove any casting ability the caster had, even those from racial spell like abilities. This can only be reversed through a wish cast by a cleric of Aren'Valesh, or some other pilgrimage to see the master of magic.

Seeing that the Sorcerer entry here is a copy of the Sorcerer entry from https://www.worldanvil.com/w/belthuran-dm-torment/a/the-basics-of-magic-article. Perhaps combining them, or referencing a single shared Sorcerer article might work best?

Not surprised there is a duplicate, happens when notes are scattered.
