Statecraftsman

The rulers of the various countries of the world, at the very least of Savorah have but one profession and that is Statecraft the ruling of their own dominion. This job requires a lot of skills that can be very demanding on a good ruler to rise to the needs of their people. Some simply choose to only work to their own benefit and those are failing at what their profession truly is about, service. To be in the position of a leader is to serve the people they rule over as much as it is the people's duty to do what their ruler tells them. Within the practices of Statecraft in Savorah, in particular, in Rhyderia it is the ruler's job to see to the needs of their people first and foremost, and with that comes a need for a wide knowledge of skills from map making, road building, diplomacy, and military conflicts.   While it is to a lesser degree government officials such as mayors, governors, and other ranks have to fill much of the same roles though the scope of their duties and responsibilities is far less than that of a king or other leader of a country. In many cases regardless of what role the positions become hereditary because the knowledge of the skill is passed from family member to family member. It is rare for a person outside of these lines to know enough about the skill of Statecraft to be an effective ruler but it can and has happened numerous times in the past.   Most rulers will employ experts in certain fields to which they lack the knowledge to give effective rulings over, the ones who don't and think they know it all and can give a fair and effective ruling over all things even those they don't know much about tending to be the problem rulers who often take bribes to influence their decision and such leaders can be charged for violation of Statecraft by a leader higher than themselves.
