Morality of the world

Work in Progress

The world owes its existence to the Arcane which is made up of the various elemental forces of the planes. Because of this, the life that lives in the world is subject to these same creating forces. While the traditional elements of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water make up the physical, or body of the plane the elements of morality influence the consciousness of those within the world. That is to say that those creatures with the capacity to understand good and evil can choose between them but those without such a capacity are compelled by parts of their nature influenced by one or more of these elements.   Morality is always a complicated thing, and while not many within the world truly understand it there are definite influences on morality by the nature of reality. Every living intelligent being starts life as an equal mix of Chaos, Evil, Good, and Law as an influence on them, depending on how they feed or deny any of these elements of morality which determines that person's alignment. They can never be truly free of the others and the more harshly the other elements are rejected the harder they will try and tempt or influence the person, though in many cases the person will be unaware of how much influence those energies are gathering, growing in the dark places of the subconscious.   What this means for the setting is that evil can be conquered but never truly defeated, the same goes for chaos, law, or good. They are all equally as important to the functioning of the world and life within it. Sooner or later someone will give into evil be it someone who just enjoys others suffering, or a good person is driven to evil to accomplish what they believe to be good. None of these elements can be destroyed in the world without separating them from the Arcane, which is believed to be impossible, or at the very least would draw the ire of the World forger.
