Bossae

The Curse Weaver, Promise Keeper

Work in Progress

Alignment: Lawful Neutral   Portfolio: Curses   Worshippers: Hags, Witches, those who curse others   Alignments: NE, N, CN   Weapon: Double bladed Scimitar - Scorn and Solice     Bossae (Bo-Say) is the patron of curses, many believe that she is not in truth a god, but she does have the power to rival ones. It is by her power that even a commoner can issue a curse on others, these curses tend to be brief or rather mundane in their effect. Those who know more about the nature of a curse and have favor with Bossae can inflict far more insidious curses upon their victims. Hags are known to offer Bossae a great deal of religious favor and is seen as the matron of their kind (they believe Bossae to be female). The most powerful followers of Bossae are known to inflict the god's favorite variety of curse, the ironic curse. The solution to the curse is often revealed in the very issuing of the curse but even with such a hint, few are willing to risk crossing the curse weaver to lift the curse and risk their own. Some of Bossae's followers believe that she enjoys watching the struggle to find out how to lift a curse and the eventual release from one, as it means that a new better curse can be imagined.

Holy Books & Codes

The Blasphemous promise is not a holy book but is close enough, the faith that sustains Bossae is gained by the act of placing a curse on someone, there is the belief that Bossae uses the pain and misery they cause as power. The book itself starts off as a study of the goddess but as it goes on it turns into the tales of the effects of those who suffer a curse enforced by Bossae. Eventually, the book just ends, it is known that the author was cursed by one of Bossae's hag followers and while the exact nature of the curse is unknown it was to prevent him from finishing his work.

Tenets of Faith

Not all transgressions need violence, not all criminals need a jail. Speak with intent and punish them with irony until they learn their lesson.   The faith of Bossae is a strange one in that the curses appear to be a pact of sorts often sealed with an obscure ritual something like writing the terms of the curse on the wall of a well in the blood of a cock at the tenth bell of the second day of a month. Some suspect that the ritual itself is more a proof of intent and commitment to issuing the curse, Bossae isn't interested in a brief moment of anger and a reflexive curse. To her credit Bossae prefers the curses to be used to teach a lesson, to both the one cursed and the one who issued it, however, that is the only thing about her that can be said in a positive light.

Holidays

Bossae's Bazaar: As close to a holy day as Bossae has, this day is marked by a chilled fog creeping into the outskirts of towns and sightings of s strange old lady offering aid to those desperate and foolish enough to trust a crone on this off all days. Many believe these crones to be hags in disguise and distrust them, though some take the opportunity to bargain with the hag or beseech a curse on their enemies. It is on the 13th of Chillwind.
