The Aurous Fleet
A naval force that is subservient to Auronim, it represents the city-state's interests in The Fomaen Islands. It was declared that it will bring order to the islands and have gone to war with the various pirate lords in the region.
Structure
At the top of the fleet is the sailor who holds the title of Golden Admiral, a position appointed by the Golden One in Auronim, who runs everything from their naval base on Goraul Island. They are in charge organizing the different flotillas in the fleet and determining where to position them for mission. Additionally, they appoint the three Vice Admirals of the Fleet.
The first Vice Admiral is the Admiral Quartermaster, who is in charge of requisitions and ensuring the fleet has all of the gear it needs for operations, as well as managing relations with the people in their protective territory. The second Vice Admiral is the Admiral Recruiter, who is charge of hiring sailors for the fleet, both from Auronim and the islands that is in their territory, as well as managing promotions and placing sailors in different flotillas, ships, and bases. The third Vice Admiral is the Admiral Bosun, who is charge of maintaining the quality of the ships and directs the various support staff in the fleet.
Beneath the admirals, there are two main divisions of the organizations: the onshore fleet and the asea fleet. The onshore fleet is made up of several bases placed on islands that have, whether willingly or forcibly, have accepted the Fleet's presence. In charge of each of these bases is a Onshore Commander, generally called an O Commander for short, who ensure the smooth running of the base and coordinate with the different Vice Admirals. Beneath the O Commander are just general staff like cooks, cleaners, bosuns, and anyone else that works at the base.
At sea, the fleet is divided into several flotillas, a group of several ships that are in the same part of the sea. In charge of each of these flotillas is an Asea Commander, usually just called Commander or A Commander if necessary, and they lead from the command ship, coordinating with the Vice Admirals and the Golden Admiral about where to send to their flotillas. Each ship is then run by a Captain, with a Lieutenant to act as first mate on the ship, with the Captain assigning sailors to be Ensigns to manage the goings on of the ship.
Culture
The Aurous Fleet believes that they are a force of good in the islands, bringing law and order into the wild islands and beating back evil pirates. This colors their interactions with the locals in territories that they are active in. Sailors in the fleet are often condescending to islanders, especially old fomaens, and act like saviors. They also assume that these people should be grateful that they are fighting the pirates the lorded over them.
Public Agenda
The Aurous Fleet's goals are to bring peace and order to the Fomaen Islands by driving the pirates out, either by killing, arresting, or scaring them off. They also want to establish trading posts through their bases that Auronim can use to further enrich itself beyond the mainland of Belkora, as well as bring the mainland's wealth out to the islands.
Assets
The Aurous Fleet has around fifty ships of various sizes, most of them prepared for battle, although some are primarily for moving cargo around. They also have many swords and bows, along with some experimental powder based canons to put on the ships along with the ballistae on most ships. They have various stone bases across western islands, with a large fortification on Goraul for their main base. Anything else they want to outfit themselves with can be purchased using the treasury of Auronim, or by trading with the local peoples.
History
Around a decade ago, the Golden One learned more about the Fomaen Islands, and the many rare resources out there. In order to further bolster his presence out there, he formed the Aurous Fleet and started having some ships built. Eventually, he decided on an uninhabited island in the northeast of the islands to be the center of power for this navy and named it Goraul and built his base. At first, the Fleet mostly stayed around the island and worked on building relations with nearby peoples. However, in recent years, after the end of the Mad King's War and the rise of Auronim to economic dominance, the Fleet started rapidly expanding with the influx of money Auronim received due to trade. Soon after this expansion, the Golden One declared war on the pirate lords of the islands and the Fleet start stretching its reach, building more bases on more islands, until reaching its current position, battling the pirates, controlling most of the western islands.
