A small but fertile city-state to the south-west of Arland. During the Arlish Civil War, House Brutus planned to claim Windcrest as its own. It is a kingdom with a history of racial tolerance, and it lent its power to the throne of Arland when news of Brutus' attempts to bring the woodland folk under his heel reached the king. Windcrest's economy largely relies on its exports of produce and ore. It lies on the western shores of the Lake of Gales, a vast body of fresh water that is rumoured to be the resting place of Delach.

Government

Windcrest is a monarchy, the ruler's title passed down primogeniture. A council of four noblemen, two ministers, the high constable and a representative from the common people advise the monarch on matters of policy.

Military

The city-state's military is comparatively small, numbering approximately 10,000. It is well-trained, however, and consists primarily of Windcrest-born individuals. It uses a standard system of rank, with the High Constable at its head. Ten Constables serve below the High Constable, each responsible for a division of 1,000 soldiers. These squads are further broken down into bands of 500 under the supervision of Captains. Officers in charge of companies of 100 soldiers each report to the Captains.

Population

Windcrest's population is approximately 5,000,000. While it is not strict, there is a class system implicitly present. Peerage in Windcrest is gained through coin rather than through blood or merit, resulting in a fair degree of class mobility.

Races

Like most nations on Demia, its population is primarily human. A fair number of city-born elves and dwarves number among the populace, however. It is a popular port of call for travelling satyr caravans and bands of warriors from Estico. Thesegroups, both famous for their hedonism, sometimes add to the genetic pool of Windcrest.
