Silver Material in Behind the Veil | World Anvil

Silver

Silver is pretty common. A soft metal that serves so many purposes amongst the humans- from jewelry to adorn their bodies to computer parts. Silver is also the color of the moon. It signifies blessing and value for the Great Mother Moon, or, Mother Luna, as the werewolves call her. There is a reason werewolves cannot stand the touch of silver.
Long ago, an ancient spirit wolf fell in love with the Moon Goddess. They had seven children together; Ghost, Red, Black, Dire, Shadow, Frost and Death. These were the firstborn wolves. For centuries, Father Wolf taught his children to hunt, track and keep the delicate balance of the veil. That thin line that separates the mortal world from the spirit world. Wolves are close to nature and the spiritual because of this. Balance is the key to keeping the worlds in their natural states. Father Wolf grew old. He was slowing down and his body started to weaken as centuries of hunting took their toll. His children knew what must happen. The wolf way was to kill the weak and old alpha in the pack and the strongest would then assume command. This is the way of the wolf. But there was dissent among the children. Dire, Shadow and Death did not believe Father was weak enough to warrant this fate.
The day came when Ghost, Red, Black and Frost attacked Father Wolf. The battle was bloody, long, and fearsome. The four eventually prevailed but the victory felt hollow. Ghost Wolf was the one who dealt that final bite. Father Wolf's death howl was long and loud. It shattered Ghost Wolf's body and spirit and sent him deep into the spirit world. Everything in the spirit realm heard that howl and knew the most powerful and ferocious spirit in the realm had been slain. They trembled in fear at what could have done such a thing.
Mother Luna was overcome with sorrow and shock. In her grief, she blamed all her children and cursed them all to be burned at the touch of Silver, her sacred gift given to her by Father Wolf himself. This lead to a permanent break in the children's allegiance. The three who were not a part of the murder, blamed those responsible for their Mother's grief and the curse. They allowed hatred to fester in their hearts and sought out other wolves who would follow in their new ideals. They disregarded Father Wolf's teachings and worked with spirits who would ally themselves with this new group. They called themselves the Nobles for they believed they stayed true to what Mother Luna wanted and everything would be fine if Father Wolf had not been slain. The three remaining, Red, Black and Frost stayed true to the lessons they were brought with. They continued to keep the balance and hoped one day to earn their Mother's forgiveness. They gathered wolves who were close to nature and believed in balance to form the Lost Ones. They searched for their brother Ghost as well. He was a shell of his former self. Broken and full of sorrow. He still believed they did the right thing, they did what their father had taught them.
There was no one alpha anymore. Now there are seven. Four new tribes making up the Lost ones. Three new tribes making up the Nobles. War will be waged.
Will any of them be able to win back their Mother's love and acceptance? Or will they be forever afflicted by the curse of Silver?
