Her barren marriage is deliberate: an unbroken Ironheart line keeps Aric on the battlefield and the house hungry for heirs, making it easier to steer him toward tragic decisions. With Aurellion unmasked and the Bastion in ruins, Vindicta’s charter has changed: she now seeks to corrupt the fledgling alliances forming under Arathur and Otto, sowing doubt that any angelic steward can be trusted. Her immediate goal is to nudge Eldergate’s defenders into accepting infernal “advisors” who promise tactics against Hextor—opening a lawful‑evil beachhead even as chaos rages. If she can orchestrate Aric’s heroic death and claim guardianship of the city in his name, the Span’s last great fortress will swear fealty not to gods or demons, but to the Nine Hells.
