Session 49: Feywild Pt 2
General Summary
We were jumped by extra-planar spiders that aren't stealthy exactly, they vanish into another plane when they want to hide, which really is cheating if you ask me. Pendira get's paralyzed but manages to shake it off.
Once spiders are dealt with, we get our bearings to see how far we need to go - Robyn asks a tree to be taken up to above the canopy to look, and gets lifted by the vines above the tree tops. She sees a dome in the canopy in the distance - hard to tell how long it'll be, but its more than an hour or so, so worth settling down. She asks to be put down, and literally gets dropped. Trees are literal creatures.
Rel asks the trees if we can camp in its space for the night and it moves and makes a grove to settle in. Took watches; Robyn, Rel and Pendira, Saman and Liv.
Robyn's watch: Pale lilac creature with clear grey wings appears, asks what she was doing; Robyn said looking after her friends. Creature raids packs and generally is a nuisance but Robyn takes care not to offend them. They eat Liv's disguise kit makeup, then says they need to poop and vanish.
Saman and Liv: No events. They have a chat (I've kept minimal details; more may need adding):
Saman remembers the Sky King, one of the elemental lords, husband of Leliana
Leliana ensure there was crops, Sky King ensuring ther was water
The only other reference to him is in the Bastion Archives about him being the Betrayer (excerpt in facebook group)
Ogren - the Sky King, commander of the heavens
Rel and Pendira: Brightwing (equivalent, a brightly coloured snakelike creature) appears, polymorphs Rel into a furry six-legged creature. Charms Pendira and convinces him to climb a tree (he falls on Rel-morph and breaks the spell) run away and take off his clothes. Robyn wakes up briefly and tells Pendira to snap out of it.
In the morning, Saman needs waking up; he was sleeping properly for the first time and had his first dream. In it he heard whooshing noise, sound of stones being dragged along, sensation of being pushed and pulled around.
Rel asks for directions to Lordanas and the tree points - we take it as gospel and keep heading "that way". The canopy gets thicker and the forest gets darker, but there is just enough light to see by before we reach a clearing with glowing turquoise flowers hanging in the air, making a star effect above to a central point. The canopy is raised compared to the rest of the forest, a ceiling of mottled green and brown.
A light appears with vines hanging down - vines that don't answer when we speak. A satyr approaches and speaks to us in Sylvan - Saman uses magic to understand that he's saying "are we getting out of the way". He then says "ascent" (kel'thera) and the vines lift him up. The commands only work in Sylvan.
We follow suit, the vines lifting us into the city, where the light takes some getting used to as its so bright compared to the forest floor. None of the light is natural, all of it a soft teal glow from the same glowing flowers. We're lifted into a garden-like area, paths lined with flowers and arches formed of tree brances. The smell up here is herby, with a softness to it very different to the forest floor. Elflike men, women and children mill about, along with half-goat-half-men creatures. The denizens look oddly at us, a tad judgemental, but not hostile.
