Session 139: Lore Drop
General Summary
- Back in Haven, Loki at bar, Otho not at their booth.
- Fight night, Dafydd and Dafydd fought, definitely improving.
- Mesh won against four people, killed a combatant, a rogue that got in the way of a swing.
- Robyn speaks to Hekess seeing him reading an advanced tinkering book in gnomish; has ideas about barbs or hook bolts; best to speak to Thaddius, Hekess does any tinkering in his workshop. Can get to the encampment in a day by going around the Wastes; Thaddius might be able to put her up for the the night.
- Rel goes to see Mesh, currently at her desk with a quill attachment on her arm. Most diplomats have a large file, Rel sees notes from Berowyn's. Mesh gives Rel a hug.
- Rel tells Mesh about the lich and the beholder lair. Also that she messaged Berowyn - Mesh slams the axe in the door after learning that.
- 'Elirith' joins us at the table; ask for her nickname, revealed as Daq.
- Xun has been gone 8/9 days. Learn from Otho that Felicity asked him to help her, he is her house maid; he will be no trouble on his own.
- Daq and Rel 'spar'.
- Is there anything we should know that we don't already? Think we already know the main two pieces of information, new neighbour, bad friend.
- Have an audience with Otho (extra lore below)
- Back at the bar, Serlina joins us. Taken councilor position because last one was useless. Has a house in the garden quarter, three doors down from the theatre.
- Xun is working for Felicity (also acting as Felicity/body double currently in a meeting about refuse collection in the Pens; so many meetings), listening and following people.
- Stoneshield did not bring in the paperwork, Leith did.
- Learn that Leith is one of the Shadows, she has meetings on Stoneshield's calendar that are not meetings he attends and she frequents a place towards the back of the Garden Quarter.
- Meets with figure, black hood, red trim, unable to recognise who she meets with.
- Other Shadows: Pavel, Varen, Leith.
Audience with Otho
- Otho has never turned away people who have asked for help genuinely, Berowyn did not ask for help, she should have. There is always a side to pick and she had picked hers.
- Arafel: Otho knows she is powerful and has lived a long time (5-600 years), understand that she leads an organisation within Bastion, but they are not the head of teh snake. Has slipped under many radars, very precise and sharp tool.
- Until recently she hadn't been identified or even seen, they made mistakes in allowing her personal judgement get in the way. By coming after Rel she's exposed more of her hand that she probably would like; we know very little, only that their base of operation is somewhere in the city.
- Otho will look more into it if they prove to be a threat to Haven.
- Kothar: was a good man, level-headed. Always a littler ornery.
- We've probably used the staff to affect time as many times as Kothar has.
- Future is malleable, sending a message can change the course of history. Have Daq take us somewhere that we can use the rod.
- Rel gives full report; Otho already knows about Bronwyn.
- Says Ry'thera will not success in Haven. Remove his links to immortality and he will become kiilable.
On the Cataclysm and Ogrim
- Otho is not proud of teh part they took in what happened, knowing what they know now
- Ogrim was not himself. They slaughtered many, and Otho helped him.
- Every civilisation she went to refused to give up Elorien. He wanted retribution for the deaths of his family. He led an army to Bation where she hid and made their last stand.
- Elorien was an elf with aspirations and thirst for more power than any mortal ever had.
- She wiped out Garrigal, it was the last step before trying it on an Elemental Lord.
- Mauzaukal - Otho does not know why the devil decided to interfere. Ogrim slayed him; they were not part of their forces.
Godrick
- Godrick - nothing to do with the Scholar. Particularly dangerous individual, craving power and immortality. Unsure what happened to him eventually.
- The Elemental Lords never interfered with mortal goings on
- There was once a human that found a way to siphon life force from living beings to feed his own. He grew in power, dominating villages, towns, cities, made armies of people whose minds were not their own.
- Elemental Lords banished him to the Abyss. Probably still there unless he died. Possible he had many laboratories.
- Specialised in Conjuration and Necromancy
The Rod
- What we have are two parts of an artifact that is more powerful than anything on this plane. In the wrong hands, everything we know can disappear.
Soul Anchor
- If we destroy it, it will cause destruction.
- Perhaps freeing him not for the best; Ogrim died that day, Otho does not know what of him is in the Soul Anchor.
- Unsure if the Scholar also died.
- The blast was enough to defeat Ogrim; it takes any soul that died in Bastion. That is how it is powered.
- It is a weapon.
Xanthaui
- We will not make contact. There are more civilisations down there than just us.
- Once we understand what it wants then a decision can be made.
14 Propho
- Back in Haven, Loki at bar, Otho not at their booth.
- Catch up with Mesh, Hekess, Daq
- Audience with Otho. Many lore.
- The Scholar wiped out Garrigal before trying draining an Elemental Lord.
- Learn that Godrick is not connected to the Scholar; banished to the Abyss by Elemental Lords.
- Mauzaukal killed by Ogrim, unsure why devil interfered, not part of Ogrim's forces.
- Serlina joins us at the bar.
- Xun helping by listening to conversations and following people.
- Leith is one of the Shadows. Regularly meets with hooded figure at the back of the Garden Quarter.
