House Karlaith
The House closest to Bastion is known as House Karlaith and is located just a few miles from The Deep and The Dead City. It houses several thousand drow, and many more servae as Vassals to the House in the surrounding region. Dhaer originated from House Karlaith before leaving it some 60 years ago. The Matriarch of Karlaith is currently known Dharea, the Night Mother.
The House is within a large, ancient stalactite found in the centre of an enormous oval cavern. The cavern has a shallow but broad lake beneath it. The structure has roughly a dozen narrow bridges running from it to plunge into the cavern walls, connecting it with the surrounding Underdark. The main entrance has a broader bridge leading to a large set of stone double doors. It is roughly fifty feet above the water and forty feet above the base of the stalactite.
