Magic
Magic governs the supernatural in Basiliath. It is the realm of arcane scholars, like wizards, divine wielders, like clerics, and harnessers of primal magic, like druids. Magic is in point of fact not native to Basiliath. If The Veil were a perfectly impenetrable barrier, magic would not exist at all; Basiliath has no Weave or similar mechanism to sustain it. Instead, magic seeps into the world through countless micro-tears in the Veil.
Arcane wielders manipulate the Veil itself, altering its properties to filter specific magical forces into the world while holding the rest at bay. Thus, magic on Basiliath is not a natural law but a fragile import, tied to the flaws in the Veil that shields the world from the greater multiverse. Wielders of Divine magic, by contrast, draw upon the muffled power of Divine forces, whose influence on Basiliath is hindered but never fully blocked. Primal magic, meanwhile, arises from the faint remnants of magic that trickle passively through the Veil’s micro-tears.
