Session 71: Loyalty, Etiquette, Games: The Crimson Fleet: Scallywags
General Summary
On the afternoon of the 11th of Ghost's Memory, Lady Sasha gathers Korgak, and his needed audience of peers, to the Officer's Mess aboard the Horizon's Call. Here the proper cutlery, napery, and table settings are available, and after running the orc through such means and protocol, she runs through hypothetical, sensitive and political scenarios that involved Drow, Grindstone Lords, and Princes of the Faces of the King. Inevitably, Korgak soon realizes, Lady Sasha is indeed teaching him how to read and deceive others, to know when and how to act, and for when you act, you act with purpose and intent. Roland offers insight even to how certain cutlery, that of the fish knife for example, make excellent choices in times of trouble and conflict.
Mila falls off a ship trying to expanse one of the tethered vessels joined masts and ropes.
Aikhon spends the afternoon teaching Saerah of poker and other games, trying to help our gain expertise, experience beyond her years and value. He offers to play chess prior to this, but Saerah was not interested.
Roland spends his time gaining loyalty with Cpt. Will of the Redwing Flier, and he first thinks he needs permission from Mila to do so. He gambles with Will and his small five-man crew, but he really wants to ask of why Will leaves the Faces Fleet. Will wants to go home, to kin and loved ones. He wants a new start, and he just wants peace. He made the wrong choice to come here.
The next Day, the 12th of Ghost's Memory, Ganoi finds Valentha below deck have she bored with impromptu haste. She claimed she wanted to speak with her brothers, but in truth she may have prepared to murder one of them. Yet, with Ganoi's kind demeanor, and with Aikhon finding his sister with rifle and silencer attached, ready to fire at Vareth. She talks of how Rage spit on her, claimed her as his wife, and how she refused and threw him overboard, but also how her crew stood by and did nothing, indeed even her older brother Vumpesh, her new quartermaster.
Ilknar spends the morning with Nethpione, still gaining knowledge into her native tongue: infernal. She takes this opportunity to ask Ilknar about what really happened in the stem, the gold of the bloom? Who is Saerah really? Is she family or are you her master? This is understood through Ilknar's broken graps of the infernal speech, but he knows she is also confused of her place in all this.
Later that day, Aikhon finds his brother Vumpesh to question his intentions and motives towards their sister Valentha. Aikhon warns the silver dragonborn of the respect due to Valentha, but he senses that the catalyst and lost soul has not intention of trusting his sister with the reponsibilty of leading their people into a better future. Vumpesh doesn't see why so many were saved, so much evil, and he thinks it will come back to them. Aikhon wishes to wait to see this end, but Vumpesh disagrees. He worries for the crew of the Pursuer, too. The Kobolds are wiley. The ghost of Skiff echoes at this point, to not judge them so.
Mila spends time with her people from the Redwing flier. She also spends time trying to hone her acrobatics.
Roland also goes to Saerah, and he fins her with the dragon egg that shouldn't exist. He sees she is lost a bit, and he hopes she makes trouble for themselves.
Ilknar repairs the hull and sails of the Call. He then sneaks some gold in to replace rum he takes from Dosgratin's stash. He has arranged to talk more with Nethpione. He worries if he said something wrong, and he finds out she misunderstood. Once he explains the happening of the bloom, and how Saerah is lost and needs guidance, he and Nethpione spend the evening watching the waves, listening to the wind.
Aikhon goes back to Vareth, and he awakes the former Brackish Fleet commodore, and they discuss trust. Can they trust each other? How will Reggie and the dwarves react to this new addition? Vareth will only agree with his returned gear, to see the map of their father, and to have a future he believes in.
Roland goes to Aikhon, and they discuss how they are treading over rocky waters with the dragon egg.
The night is filled with croaking over grungs claiming territory. Gridely returns with a shark and its jaws as present for his wife Valentha.
The next day, the 13th, Lady Sasha challenge Vareth to a duel, and she defeats him again, but his strength shows him as a worthy addition to the Crimson Fleet.
Aikhon needs scales from Vareth and Valentha, and as he searches, one of the warships is attacked. A hydra rears two of its heads and consumes two orcs.
